Here at the SAGA School we are very proud of our library. Our collection includes over 3,500 German language books for children of all ages and reading levels. Our collection is completed by a smaller adult section and an assortment of CDs and DVDs. Our library collection is rich in variety and constantly expanding as we work with SAGA teaching staff to acquire books that support the SAGA curriculum.
When is the library open?
The School Library is currently closed to the public due to COVID-19 precautions. While the library is closed to the public, families can, on a weekly basis, check out books by emailing the library at library@sagaschool.org to request books based on a certain theme and age group.
Who can use the library?
Generally, during non-COVID pandemic times, the SAGA library is available for students, staff, parents and members of the public. For the time being, the library remains closed to parents and other members of the public. We hope to reopen the library to in person visits as soon as health and safety regulations permit.
How do I check out and return materials?
Our elementary students are given the opportunity during class time to check out books that can be taken home. Preschool teachers use the library to check out books based on themes to use in the classroom. While the library is closed to the public, families can, on a weekly basis, check out books by emailing the library at library@sagaschool.org to request books based on a certain theme and age group. All checked out materials can be returned in the drop-box located on the main floor to the left of the main doors during school hours.
Are there limits to how many items I can check out?
Each family may have ten books or other library materials and three DVDs checked out at any given time. DVDs may be checked out for one week, all other library materials for three weeks.
What if I don’t read German?
German language DVDs and CDs are a fantastic and kid-friendly way to reinforce vocabulary children are learning in the SAGA classrooms. We also have a great collection of board books and picture dictionaries perfect for parents and young children to learn basic German words together!
Are there regular library visits for SAGA students?
SAGA elementary school students have weekly library visits. They have the option of checking out items for the duration of one week. These items will be checked out under the child's name.
Can I donate German language materials?
The SAGA Library is happy to accept most donations of clean, gently-used German language materials. We have particular need for children's and family DVDs, children's books on CD, non-fiction children's books such as the Wieso, Weshalb, Warum series, and popular children's chapter book titles. To make arrangements for a donation please email us at library@sagaschool.org.
